Jay Wall, Career Coach

Today’s education system offers little or no training in one of the most crucial aspects of life, finding the right career. Career development and job search topics are virtually ignored at high schools and colleges. Some provide quick “how to” items, but quality, thought provoking guidance is rare. Most people, without genuinely considering their personal skills, interests, and abilities find themselves in a job based strictly on what’s nearby and available. The statistics are consistent that well over half of Americans are dissatisfied with their work.

"I don’t simply help my clients “get a job.” I work with them to identify a meaningful career that will provide a sense of purpose and personal satisfaction. Then we go get it."

About Jay
  • Masters Degree in Counseling and Psychological services.
  • Seven years as a Career Counselor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of California, Berkeley. Has worked with job seekers at all levels in every industry.
  • Former Director of Employer Relations at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Advised hundreds of companies and recruiters from every major industry on best recruiting and hiring practices.
  • Entrepreneur and small business owner. Purchased and ran a $2 million dollar veterinary management corporation. Recruited, hired and fired staff. I know what employers look for because I was one.

Making the Job Search and Career Transition process easy to understand. Helping individuals find a career is something I love to do. Listening and getting to know my clients are my highest priorities. People never seem as happy and optimistic as when they have landed a new job. However, since most people have not taken the time to introspect and truly consider which career is right for them, the elation quickly disintegrates into frustration and a constant longing for Friday. Using honest, straight forward talk and proven career development tools, I work with you to make sure your career path is always on the right path.

Guidance, Coaching and Solutions. Using the Futures in motion, Inc. Fast Track Your Career Process- Gaining Personal Insight, Getting a Reality Check, Charting Your Path. Speaking the truth about how to get a job you love. Everyone is different when it comes to what they want out of their career. Some are motivated purely by money while others are driven to contribute to a cause. Most of us have a combination of needs and interests we would like to satisfy. My perspective is that there is no right or wrong motivation, only what works for you. Sometimes external pressures (family, friends, etc.) or the realities of life (rent, car payment etc.) make it difficult, if not impossible, for us to freely admit and fulfill what it is we want to be. I encourage all of my clients to be honest, either through career conversations or standardized career assessments and to look critically at what it is that motivates you. Once the difficult soul searching is done and we know what makes you smile, then we can go about the business of finding the right job
